Thanks For Being Awesome!

Hi y'all!

It's a gloomy, foggy, rainy Thursday here and I've got one of the worst sinus infections I think I've ever had.  I'm working from home today, but did get time to snap a quick pick of a card I made last night.  Here is what I created.

My friend Rochelle and I had been talking about all of the crafty stuff we own, but weren't using.  So, we decided we were going to challenge ourselves to make something last night, no matter what (operation #getchacrafton).  I have to say that even though this is simple, I love how it turned out.  I can't remember the last time I wet embossed anything, or if I've ever embossed on black cardstock. lol  I really think it looks pretty cool, as the white pops against the black.  I hope to try this again.  I will be entering this into the following challenges.

Cardabilities #109: Sketch (my loose interpretation)
Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Burlap Banner
Simon's Wednesday Challenge: Use Kraft

I'm off to do some more work, and hopefully rest a bit.  I hope everyone is having a great week, so far, and will get lots of crafty time to make stuff this weekend.

Hugs!

Happy Birthday

Greetings!

I hope everyone is doing well, and having a craft filled weekend.  It's been a fairly lazy weekend for us, with the exception of all of the homecoming activities going on.  While my daughter and her friends were participating in everything, I got some time alone, in my craft room.  Here is what I created.

I had a difficult time getting a good picture, so this will have to do.  I'm trying to figure out how to get good photos taken, using a light box that I got, but I have yet to master that.  Anyway, this was quick and simple, and I know the recipient will love it as these are her favorite colors.  I am going to enter this into the following challenges.

Seize The Birthday: Anything Goes
Tag You're It #8: Photo Inspiration

I do hope to be back with another card soon.  It's time to start bulking up on my Christmas cards.  I WILL send them out this year. lol  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy Autumn

Hello friends!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted anything.  It's been a rough few weeks, and I haven't really been motivated to create anything.  I broke my foot, was sick (which almost never happens to me), then my mother was sick, and then I have been busy and traveling for work.  On top of everything, this last week was supposed to be homecoming week at my daughters school, but two of her friends were killed in a car accident on Monday so everything was postponed.  Sydney and Lexi had been friends since kindergarten.  I feel guilty.  I'm so hearbroken for my daughter, and for Lexi and Caleb's families, but I am so thankful that it wasn't my daughter in that vehicle with them.   It's been hard for my daughter, seeing as how this is the first time she's ever really had to deal with death.  As a parent I feel helpless, not being able to fix this for her. *sigh*  I am so sorry to ramble, I guess I just needed to vent, and I have never had a problem talking about the not so nice things we have to deal with in life.

Anyway, I was finally able to muster up a bit of creative mojo, and make a card.  I decided to keep it simple.

This is about as simple as it gets, for me.  I used distress inks with a stencil for the chevron pattern, added white ink splatter, and then stamped the sentiment before adding a couple of sequins.  It looks how I pictured it in my head, so that's good.  Hopefully, I'll be able to create more cards soon.  I think it may take a while to get back into it though.  I'm going to enter this into the following challenges.

Before I go, I want to share a picture of my daughter (on the left) and Lexi.  I hope she's resting peacefully.

Make sure to hug your children a little more each day, if you can.  Life is SO short!

Hugs!
